AppX is not at $0 MRR anymore
Three days ago I published a pitch deck that said $0 revenue and zero paying customers. Today someone subscribed to the $5 plan. Here is what that means and what it doesn't.

Three days ago I published the pitch deck we sent to an AI award. One slide said: paying customers 0, monthly recurring revenue $0.
Today that slide is out of date. On October 12, 2026, someone subscribed to AppX Basic.
AppX now makes $5 a month.
The exact numbers
I want to be precise, because I was precise when the number was zero.
- Paying customers today: 1.
- Monthly recurring revenue: $5.
- Plan: Basic, $5 a month, 100 credits every month.
This is the first customer on the $5 plan, and the only paying customer AppX has right now. It is not the first payment in AppX's history. One person subscribed to the old $50 plan in July and cancelled in September. I wrote that in the deck too. Between September and today the number was zero.
So the honest headline is not "first dollar ever". It is "back above zero, on the plan I actually believe in".
Why $5
Until October 1, AppX had a free plan. In the post where I announced the change I gave the reason: free credits brought people who try one build and leave, and every build costs me real money in AI usage. Someone on reddit told me to remove the free plan and add a cheaper one, so the jump from free to paid is smaller.
So the free plan became Basic: $5 a month for 100 credits. Most AI app builders start at $20 or $25 a month, which is a lot of money just to find out if a tool can build your idea.
I called it a one-week test and promised to share what happened, good or bad. This post is that report. For the first ten days nobody subscribed. On day eleven, one person did.
Someone who pays $5 has decided the idea is worth something. That is a different person from someone who clicks "start free".
What $5 does not prove
I am celebrating today. I am also not going to pretend this is more than it is.
One customer is not a trend. I can't calculate what it costs to win a customer, or how long one stays, from a single subscription. Those lines in the deck still say "no data yet", and they should.
$5 a month does not pay for the servers. AppX is still one person with no outside money.
And one thing I didn't expect: the moment someone pays, you watch the product differently. I looked at what happened in the first hour after that payment and wrote down three things to fix. I test every release myself before it ships. None of that showed me what one paying customer showed me in an hour.
What happens next
The work for this week didn't change, it just got a face.
- Make sure every paying customer ends their first session with a working app on their phone. In the deck I said 69% of builds finished in the last 7 days. For someone who paid, 69% is not good enough.
- Fix the three things from that first hour.
- Keep the price at $5.
If you have an app idea and $5, you can try the same thing our first Basic customer is trying: describe the app in your own words, look at the plan, and see it on your phone. You can download the full code on every plan.
Thank you to the person who subscribed today. You moved a number that had been zero for a month.
Evidence note: figures are from AppX's own production data on October 12, 2026: one active paid subscription (Basic, $5 a month). The earlier Premium subscription (July to September 2026) and the build-completion rates are the same figures published in the October 9 pitch-deck post.
